Attn: Sierra Madre Girlfriends–SGVT On Wrong Track RE SM CM? UPDATED
By Publius | July 23, 2007
Did you notice that in the Los Angeles Times today the Mayor of Pomona said this very blog takes her “back to high school days when you gossip with girlfriends”?
Totally. I so remember when all the girlfriends in high school used to gossip about who would be paid with their tax dollars to become City Manager.
Anyhow, listen to this, girlfriends:
Just as Mr. or Mrs. Anonymous (whoever they are, that person is very busy) hinted we are also hearing from other sources that the new favorite for Sierra Madre City Manager position is finalist Elaine Aguilar of the City of Glendale, NOT finalist Katie Wilson. SGVT reporter Molly R. Okeon wrote an article about Wilson as a potential candidate recently.
If our sources are correct, 91024 is still right about Chicks in Charge in Sierra Madre. Info for Elaine follows after the jump:

A June 29th, 2001 Los Angeles Daily News local brief said:
GLENDALE - Elaine Aguilar, a former assistant city manager for La Puente, started work this week as assistant to the city manager, officials said.
She was selected from a field of 50 candidates to replace Ray Cruz, who left Glendale to work for the city of Carson. Aguilar, 40, has more than 18 years of government experience.
Her responsibilities include intergovernmental relations, legislative analysis and management. She will also be executive director of the Arroyo-Verdugo Consortium, a group of cities that meet to discuss regional issues.
Aguilar’s annual salary, including benefits, will be $86,000.
Plenty more to sort out online about her.
UPDATED:
I altered the post above slightly to reflect the fact, as Ed the Editor notes below, Okeon wasn’t wrong in what she reported, although if our info is right her article was not focused on the true front-runner.

Remember when the chicks would all be separated from the guys and the chicks would learn about Planning Commissions and the guys would learn about the Gold Line extension?

Oh, TOTALLY!!! You go girl!!!!!
I used to be sooo embarrassed when they would talk about (re)redevelopment issues and point out the good and the bad regarding local governments AND developers in front of both sexes. I mean, gossip is one thing but that’s all like, in-o-propriate if you know what I’M saying…

Please save Centinel from his kidnappers. That whole honeymoon post was a ruse. AP, you are our only hope…AP, you are our only hope…

So as an “Assistant to the City Manager” she is not considered executive staff http://www.ci.glendale.ca.us/contact_executive_staff.asp so what is she?
July 23rd, 2007 at 4:33 pm
Molly didn’t get it wrong. She said Wilson was on the short list and one of the finalists. Wilson was/is? She never said Wilson had the job.
We would love to be able to tell people who exactly the city, any city, has picked for their top executive job so that residents can decide for themselves before a vote is taken if it’s the right person.
But unfortunately for the public, cities refuse to do that. Hence, we have to play this little game and try to piece things together.
And we will continue to do that regardless of some city officials trying to stop us from doing it.

Credit given where credit is due.
There will be a story in the paper about Elaine Aguilar being in negotiations with Sierra Madre.
