Very interesting. The suit was not written well in my humble opinion. If they had left out the third cause of action for negligent infliction of emotional distress and not made the allegation of injury they would have elminated potential for insurance coverage on his homeowners policy. Kind of moot since cause of action for false arrest gives him coverage.
The latter just muddies the waters and gives him coverage. If it had been left out in the cold paying for his defense and indemnity of the girls. All insurance terms but the application in civil court is that if you want to hurt someone, get their pocket book and not put in items that trigger coverage, including defense if you can help it.
The allegation of punitives, I hope when settlement conferences come along they make the issue of punitives and demand he fork over cash along with whatever his insurance offers. Seen it happen. (I did civil litigations for years and seen it happen a lot).
What a looser. Hope those girls hit him hard so he learns something. (The suit otherwise was well written and to the point…little to dispute).

Rest assured the suit was well drafted with specific goals in mind. That claim is validated by recent court decisions including the decision that the suit can move forward.
Insurance coverage wasn’t really an issue…if anything it is a plus. While qualified to practice law in the State, one might question the insurance defense firms expertise in this type of litigation?

While I can’t/don’t support the arrest of the girls “tampering” with the illegal signs, look carefully at John Harrold’s background. He and his allies did tremendous damage to the City of Glendora when they were the “loyal opposition” and then when they gained control of the City. His recall from a position on the City Council was a great day for the City.

If you’re from Glendora Cleo you probably know who the psycho Lawyers is. He is one of the main John Harrold ass kissers and people in town write him off as the fruitcake he is. Don’t ever respond to him unless you feel like wasting time.
Clifford has dug his own grave out there but John Harrold will never get onto the council again. He lost all chance long ago. That’s what’s important to the people I know out there. They want to see some change on their council but it will never be someone associated with Harrold.

As always Bozo the Glendora Clown makes my point. Lies, lies and more lies from his hiding place on the net. Probably dresses like a woman as he posts. Might look like a man but so did Michael Jackson at one point. He just can’t act like a man.
I’m still on this blog but wasted enough time on this jerk. I don’t post to him anymore beacuse he’s just not all there. I will be back at him after election time and his hero gets put in his place again. That’s what counts, everything else is minor. What a drama queen the good folks of Glendora have to deal with.

If ever there was a time that the good citizen’s of Glendora should take reading the facts for themselves it is NOW.
Why be lead around by a “gang” of politicans in office at Glendora’s City Hall?
All they have done is tell one story, then turned right around an do the exact or nearly the opposite of what they told the good citizen’s of Glendora with the authority they granted themselves in asking the citizen’s to accept contracts and projects throughout Glendora.
In some cases going back to the orginal plan that drew so much heat from the citizen’s in the first place for them to collect signatures to hault or suspend these projects.
These politicans have finally been caught up in something they can not escape from, The LAW and a day in COURT.

It’s funny that the Glendora Clown Boy uses the aka Lawyers when posting because he knows nothing about the law. He’s lied time and again about the law and will never stop. Being town clown means never having to say you’re sorry. His group of friends at Harrold are all about specualtion, accusations and lies.
Layers asks “Since when has it been about Harrold?” How about since his board came up and the lies flowed, or his hateful comments that are made on his show with no facts just gossip like a bunch of old women? Check out Lawyers own words of hate on the board. He’s posted under a lot of names but the message never changes. What a giant jackass the boy is.
Lawyers lacks the ability to reason and is easily led by Harrold and his clown posse so why argue with him? It’s more fun just to point out what a joke he is.
Many people in Glendora feel Clifford is getting what he deserves. I know I do and so do my friends. He deserves to be run off the council for lying about the police forcing him to make the citizens arrest of the girls, not making the arrest. Thank Mrs. Marshall for that, talk about a bad parental decision.
Clifford also deserves to be recalled for opening up this whole mess in the first place by posting the signs in violation of the city ordinance. The thing is only Clifford and the other councilmen who posted illegally are targets of the Harrold group, not others who violated the same law. It’s all about selective enforcement and Harrold and his pals feel the same way. They are the rabid dog pack of Glendora.
Clifford might actually get this thing tossed from what I hear and these girls do not deserve one penny. Justice would be served if the girls get nothing, Mrs. Marshall has to walk around town in a clown suit for her lack of parenting skills. She can hold hands with Lawyers who’s holding a picture of himself with lips planted on you know who’s ass. Than Clifford gets recalled and all is well in Glendora.
It’s about Harrold cause you made it that way dummy.

A very interesting note of how NEWS is covered by our local newspapers in and around the City of Glendora, California.
Note: At the time of Glendora’s last municipal election in 2007, several local newspapers allowed and even wrote stinging news items about two residents who were running for seats on the city council, when two local girls were arrest for campaign sign vandalism - these newspapers went wild with delight on writing stories to there guilt.
But of course the first reports about the whole affair was inccorect and bogus, as the real facts surrounding the arrest were brought forth these same local newspapers STOPPED printing any articles pro or con. fear does that to them.
But the L.A. Times newspaper did have the courage to print the Truth and nothing but the Truth about this illegal arrest an signage posting by THREE former and CURRENT city council members.
Now that this case will finally go to trial - not a peep has been heard from our local newspapers concerning this new turn of events, even though the orginal lawsuit papers and Gary’s response to the Lawsuit are avaliable as a public convience on a web page: johnharroldpubliccomment.com

The Harrold/Jacobs/Marshall Troika
Harrold and Jacobs were supported by a union, Local 1428 of the United Food and Commercial workers, which represents grocery workers.
In 1999, the local was gearing up to oppose construction of a Wal-Mart (SAMS) store in a proposed Glendora shopping complex near the Foothill (210) Freeway, called Glendora Marketplace.
Local 1428’s opposition was part of a nationwide campaign by the union against the non-union retail chain.
Jacobs and Harrold were elected. They voted against the Wal-Mart store and Glendora Marketplace development, arguing that the site posed environmental concerns. The resulting 2-2 vote (one council member abstained because of a conflict of interest) stopped the project.
*Could this be a conflict of interest for Jacobs and Harrold
The next year,the issue was put before the voters and the council’s denial of the project was overturned by a vote 63% to 37%.
Coupled with the specter of those same stores located in neighboring cities, denying Wal-mart was a risky move… for the Harrold/Jacobs/Marshall troika

Where there’s smoke there’s fire and Athens has been a real smoker all these years since 2000 in Glendora politics, picking and choosing who will win of course.
Looks like conway was expressing some conserns even back in 2000.
Mike Conway, a Glendora resident, said the solid waste management franchise contract with Athens Services has never gone out to bid. He said when Bob Kuhn was Mayor and Larry Glenn was on the Council, trash companies were relieved from the competitive bidding process. He said Athens Services gave $2,000 in 1997 for the Art Cook memorial and they also gave various amounts of contributions to Council candidates in 1999. He said residents must ask themselves why the City would enter into such an expensive contract without making the vendor go through the competitive bidding process. He said there is an evergreen clause and he asked why the City has delayed in giving notice. Mr. Conway said the only good thing about the agreement with Athens Services is that Glendora does not have automated waste wheelers.
Mr. Conway said Glendora residents are used to recycling green waste, newspapers, and plastics. Athens is proposing a MRF and he said it would be less efficient and more costly. He said courts have ruled that cities cannot send trash to be buried in distant places. He said a more efficient program is co-generation, which reduces trash and generates electricity. He said the last time this issue was before Council, residents turned out in big numbers. Glendora residents do not want large fee increases, inefficiency or environmentally threatening services. Confused is not Local Boy. I like his take on things though. Where sometimes it appears someone smarter than Lawyer’s (which is the rest of the population living on this planet be it human, plant, animal or any tiny organisim) is doing his writing, usually it’s Watcher from the Harrold board.
I’ve read enough of the crap there in the past to know that’s it’s the idiot I speak of. I don’t think it’s Adin Rudd. If it is than he’s had a head injury. Mr. Rudd isn’t stupid just obnoxious.
The Harrold clown group thinks only a few people think they’re bad for their town when in fact it’s the majority of the voters in Glendora. They’re also all in the councils hip pockets, nobody thinks for themselves but the Harrold people, just ask one. The election results always point that they are not trusted to do what’s best for their town.
This is the funny thing about the Harrold people, even their supporters with brains can’t come clean or admit when they’ve been had. The poster CWS is a good example of that behavior.
CWS posted here for some time. When I told him to check out if Harrold’s wife was the person who told her hubby who the new city attorney should be he never responded with anything but he had never seen that anywhere and he had never heard that. I told him to check it out and no response. Another guy living in denial.
No other candidtes were interviewed at all for that job. Yet CWS gripes about the council now and their actions? You make it to be mayor and get rid of the city manager and people on boards you don’t like and you have what Harrold is all about. CWS was ok with that, he said that in one of his posts. Harrold is a loser and always will be. He could not handle winning like a man and so he got booted. He’s just not very smart.
I read the CGS report months back and it’s non-partisan and certainly doesn’t put Harrold in a positive light. He should have a tatoo that says “Union Made”. He wouldn’t even comment to the CGS people, what a brave guy he is. Lawyer’s needs to find a different ass to kiss.
This idiot boy Lawyer’s is just a troll and can’t seriously comment on anything. It drives him even more crazy because he knows I speak the truth when I say he’s the town dunce. How many responses does it take for this guy to one post from anyone else? Anyone who disagrees with him is bought and paid for by his council, even out of towners.
It looks like there’s someone else here now that’s opening up on Lawyer’s and all he can do is provide links to old news that makes his pal look even worse. Or think he’s me.
Harrold is like the Buffalo Bills teams that made it to the Super Bowl, a constant loser. He is not fit to hold any position on the council.

Hey LB, I think the connection to the current city attorney may be Paul Sonny Marshall. They are neighbors living in Blue Bird, most of which was owned by Dr Ferguson who still owns several hundred acres after donating 100 plus acres to the city. Seems the good Doctor is not fond of the Harrold/Jacobs/Marshall Troika.
Here is what he had to say about the group of three.
“Dr. Ferguson took umbrage at the council majority’s firing of Gary Napper, the former Glendora city manager (now employed by the City of Clayton, CA). They withheld his severance package until six weeks after his firing, until after he signed a letter saying he resigned. They knew if [Napper] sued, he would never get hired as a city manager. I call that extortion and an unethical way to do business. It was after I found out about that that I contributed to the recall.”

Lawyers-Or-Us, I am an interested observer in Glendora and its politics, and am very familiar with John Harrold and his allies. I am not, however, currently a local resident.

Sorry, but that doesn’t work. The 2002 LA Times articles (along with a number of other articles in the Times and other local newspapers) raises a number of substantial issues and problems with John Harrold. Mr. Harrold’s history IS relevant to what he says today since they are clearly tied to his credibility (or lack thereof).
Are there some issues with Mr. Conway and others in Glendora? You betcha. However, at the front of the line about those with real problems is John Harrold.

Nobody was caught in illegal activity of any type that sits on the current council. To be caught in an illegal act is an example best shown by the girls damaging the signs of Clifford and getting caught. Clifford made a legal citizen’s arrest. Than he lost his nerve and blamed the cops. He’s a jerk for doing that.
The posting of those signs was illegal but nobody was caught doing it, same as nobody caught Johnson posting his illegal signs. Lawyers is an idiot and he proves it over and over and over every day. He is a Harrold hit man, or so he thinks, but has no guts or common sense. He gripes about foul language but has posted sick stuff here. He tends to pass that over because since he has no morals.
Lawyers has limited reasoning ability and just posts to hear himself yell. You confront someone from the Harrold group here and they run back home. Many of Lawyer’s posts here and elsewhere will get seen come election time. There are people in Glendora that have quite a collection thanks to the hate filled rhetoric of Harrold supporters that will be thrown in their face later when it counts.
An endorsement from Harrold will be the kiss of death.

How the old school, who were used to having and doing things thier way, were defeated by the new school, and they were scared to death of losing control of the power and money that goes along with running the city that they had become so used to controling for years and years and years, that they would do anything and spend any amount to regain the control of the city of Glendora.
AND THATS WHY THE “GOOD OLD BOYS” STARTED THE RECALL!!
“I see it going back to what it was in the ’50s, ’60s and the ’70s,” said former City Manager Art Cook, who retired in the summer of 1997 after 41 years with the city.
It was “a time when [decisions] were made based on what’s best for Glendora and not best for personal egos,” he said.
Cook, a recall supporter seen by some as still pulling strings in City Hall, says if it’s not successful, Glendora will cease as a community of volunteers.
“There’ll be a small group of people getting involved and a narrow group who will be trying to exercise its own will and desires,” he said. “And, the majority of the community of 100 years, who have given to this town to make it what is, will be ostracized.”
In true Glendora style, Community Services Commissioner Roy Schall disagrees.
If the recall is successful, Schall said corruption inside City Hall will continue. If the makeup of the council remains as is, politics in Glendora will be open.

Here is some truth for you,
the 3 incumbent councilmen LIED when campaigning for reelection they said “they had always had a balanced budget.”
Prior to the election John, on his show said, “that this council would not have a balanced budget this year, that it would be in the red” and thats 2 years in a row 2006/2007 & 2007/2008 the budget is in the red.
How about that, John was RITE, and the councilmen LIED!(To the citizens they are supposed to represent, what a shame!)
Were have they spent all the added sales tax dollars generated by the Market Place and other developments they approved throughout the city.

You keep side stepping the fact that you’d be more in the hole if not for these developments. Harrold was against these developments and you know it. Those tax dollars would be absent from your budget if Harrold had kept his council majority. You can’t argue that CWS.
So some politicians lied, is that something unheard of? Vote new blood on if you think you need to, friends of minr are hoping that happens, but it would be fiscally irresponsible to elect anyone who agrees with Harrold’s stated views.

I’ve posted before I live in Monrovia, the Mark in that show lives somewhere in the Inland Empire from what I’ve heard. I’ve never seen the show. I have lots of Glendora friends though and they are all educated which puts them way up on Lawyers.
The above post is a typical one from the little Glendora boy. It says nothing because he adds nothing to any conversation.

You should read the documents you discuss. Clifford is not blaming anyone. The document lists “all affirmative defenses”. Any lawyer woud list them in that order. Instead of gossiping about the issue light ladies at the beauty parlor just ask Clifford. I did. My friends and I support what he did because of future electons. Clifford is taking the heat and would never blame the cops. Dont believe Harrold and his clan of goons. Read for yourself. If you dont claim all affirmative defenses you limit youself down the road. Any first year law student knows that. Local Boy, ask your friends. Clifford is taking the rap for this. It will get thrown out of court, and then the girls will be accountable for what they have done. I think Clifford has hit the lotto with those morons!

Sea Lawyer you can tell by my posts I am no Harrold fan. That being said you are wrong about what Clifford has claimed. Like it or not one of the affirmative defenses does try to place blame on the officers, or an officer, at the scene.
I hope the lawsuit is thrown out and the girls have to pay court costs and whatever damages Clifford suffered. I also think the three councilmen who posted signs in prohibited areas are fined because their actions were wrong and they are the chosen leaders of Glendora that should have been setting a better example. They have no excuse and their sign posting was calculated and purposeful.
If you have an e-mail address I’d be happy to discuss this issue with you further. I believe nothing that comes out of the mouth of Harrold or his supporters and my family and friends feel the same way. I also know better than to believe everything you heard from Clifford and with very good reason.

Please contact an attorney of Law, that can practice in the State of California and read together with him Gary M. Clifford’s defense statement.
If this was such a great commentary from Gary to defend his actions on the night in question then the Superior Court Judge would have thrown the case out againist Gary on the merits of his written defense and his actions that he took againist two teenage girls?
Instead this Superior Court Judge said; Let the Case go foreward!

Sea Lawyer is correct on this one.
You must raise all possible affirmative defenses when you file an answer in a lawsuit; otherwise, you have waived those defenses for the balance of your case.
That being said, Lawyer-Or-Us, it is extremely rare for a judge to throw out a case based merely upon the complaint and answer being filed. In almost all cases, the defendant needs to file some other pleading before the case will be thrown out.
The mere fact that the case is moving forward does NOT mean that the girls will win–although anything is possible in our legal system.

But at the latest city council meeting (6/19/07), according to the Contra Costa Times Antioch leaders decided to put the controversial RV parking ordinance to a public vote, saying the matter has become too divisive and too big for them to render a decision on their own.
This is just one place where RV parking is seen as an issue and parking costs are rising.

Maybe they should put it to a vote. Why don’t you move if you hate Glendora so much and everything the council does? No matter what decision they make, no matter the issue, you’ll oppose it. I know why you’ll stay, because you have the right to spread hatred and discontent as specified by the 1st amendment wherever you please.

Somehow you lose power by allowing a vote on an issue like RV parking? In the twisted mind of Lawyers and all the other Harrold hate group members it’s always about that. if the city acts in a manner the citizens approve of Harrold and his followers lose. It’s back to the drawing board of hate, gossip and mud slinging for them. It’s all they have.
These people had their 15 minutes and hate that the show is over for them. It is and it’s time to pull the plug on their hatred. It will happen again next election as always and that’s what counts.

How can any Council person of Glendora, California and pass judgement on NJD and not respond to the mess you created in the foothills by allowing John Gordon to butcher the foothills above Glendora?
While you knew of and help facilitate the unjust punishment of other land owners WHO only tried to follow the municipal codes to the letter in Glendora?
Some of these people were finally driven from Glendora and took their businesses with them to other more deserving cities who welcomed them with open arms.
Who knew of and allowed other’s to not only break the laws of Glendora, County of L.A., State and Federal Laws, but participate in a cover up and provide City Hall staff to help hide this mess - you allowed tax payers money to complete this fraud upon all the residents of Glendora, California.

I will stay out of the fight between Lawyers-Or-Us and Local Boy; however, I thought it would be useful to post an article regarding a recent unwelcomed award that the City of Glendora received. The article does, however, say that Glendora is improving. While Lawyer-Or-Us previously referred to the award, I thought the newspaper article from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune would be helpful….
Glendora gets low mark on openness

GLENDORA - A statewide free-speech group has bestowed upon the city the annual “Darkness Award,” saying Glendora officials blocked access to public records and violated state open government laws.
The city earned the dubious distinction from the California First Amendment Coalition, a nonprofit organization based in San Rafael that advocates for free speech and accountability in government.
The award is given each year to cities, government agencies or individuals that CFAC says have limited public access.
“It was given to Glendora because of a chronic history of bad behavior, for systematic disregard of the requirements on cities of the Brown Act and Public Records Act,” said CFAC Executive Director Peter Scheer, referring to state laws requiring open public meetings and access to public documents.
Glendora officials said the city has since tried to reverse the conditions that led to the award.
“That’s water under the bridge,” City Manager Chris Jeffers said. “We’ve made a tremendous effort to make government more open and accessible.”
The nomination for the award came from Gil Aguirre, a San Dimas resident who sued Glendora in 2006 for failing to provide documents related to a street lighting proposal that would have affected apartment buildings he owns.
“It was like running into a bureaucratic buzz saw,” Aguirre said of his efforts to get records from City Hall employees. “Clearly they are not inclined to follow the law. They have to be forced to follow the law.”
The lawsuit resulted in the city changing its policies after some resistance to a judge’s ruling in Aguirre’s favor. Officials say public records are now easier to obtain since a request form is no longer required. And the city has lowered its copy fees from 25 cents to 15 cents.
Additionally, there has been turnover in City Hall.
The hiring of Jeffers and City Clerk Kathleen Sessman in the past year were “a huge victory for the people,” Aguirre said.
Jeffers wrote a three-page letter to the coalition that stated he was “not taking issue with past perceptions or mistakes.”
But Jeffers said things had changed and referred to efforts made to update the city’s record-keeping system and to make available streaming video of city meetings, among other improvements.
He called the new attitude “a very remarkable effort being made to not only live by the letter of the law but also its spirit.”
One of CFAC’s board members who helped select the city for the award from a number of nominees acknowledged that things are different in Glendora now. But the award should be a warning to all municipalities, said Mel Opotowsky, CFAC treasurer.
“We hope that this award would alert cities that they just can’t stiff people. They have to follow the law,” Opotowsky said.
The award was announced Oct. 26 at the group’s annual assembly, held this year at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication.

4) I never post racist comments but no matter your race, you are an asshole and a fool. You are a disgrace to all earthlings if in fact you are one.
5) I don’t hang out with your council people or kiss the ass of John Harrold as you do. I have no built in anomosity for anyone but criminals. I find it though when dealing with liars, cowards and scoundrels like you. Unlike you I can tell right from wrong.
6) You’re also a third party little man, it’s just that you’re a liar and a wimp. My info comes from educated adults in Glendora. That is not a group you belong to.
