« Previous EntriesCity of Pasadena Hates Criticism…and Wayne Lusvardi
Thursday, January 31st, 2008Wow, Pasadena knows how to win opponents and make enemies. They actually resorted to booting Wayne Lusvardi from an “informational meeting” about Measure D:
An informational meeting for reporters and city workers about a city-backed ballot initiative was nearly scrapped Tuesday after two critics of the measure showed up.
But Wayne Lusvardi, a blogger who the city […]
5 More Things You’d Like to See Changed
Thursday, January 31st, 2008Note: This post periodically bumped to the top. Regular blogging continues below.
Two items of blog housekeeping:
Thanks to everyone who commented on what they’d like to see more or less of here at the blog (if you forgot to, you still can). It sounds like the top item on most folks’ wishlist is better coverage of […]
Monrovia Update
Thursday, January 31st, 2008From an LA Times article on the outbreak of violence:
In all, seven people have been killed or wounded in recent weeks, as suspected black and Latino gang members have traded gunfire. At least two of those killed have been bystanders, authorities said.
I didn’t realize the toll of violence was so high. Also, the sheriff’s Capt. […]

Monrovia’s Violence Now Front and Center
Thursday, January 31st, 2008It’s interesting to see the lid blown off of Monrovia’s gradually deteriorating crime situation. Up until a year ago, it would have been difficult to believe that Monrovia was much different than, say, Sierra Madre (um, perhaps less packed to the gills with bloodthirsty political opponents, but you know what I mean. Two murders (like […]
Larry Wilson Takes Pasadena Now Behind Shed
Thursday, January 31st, 2008Ouch. Pasadena Now got its hand caught in the cookie jar.
Rewriting someone else’s stories is one thing. Simply stealing them word for word is another. We all know that the one-man-band news site Pasadena Now doesn’t have much staff, whether in Bangalore or Pasadena. That’s why they can’t cover the news like a professional organization. […]
Pasadena’s Walkability Score
Thursday, January 31st, 2008Can’t wait till March 1st to learn whether or not Pasadena is walkable? Not interested in actually walking and finding out? Then check out Walk Score, which gives Pasadena City Hall a 98/100 for its walkability.
SmogDance Winners
Thursday, January 31st, 2008The 10th annual Smogdance Film Festival, held this past weekend in Claremont, saw over 600 people in attendance. This year it was held at the Gallileo Theater at Harvey Mudd College, but will be moving to the Pomona Fox Theater next year.
The winners of this year’s festival are…
Jim Carrey Leaps Off Suicide Bridge
Wednesday, January 30th, 2008In a rather ironic twist, Jim Carrey decided to jump off Suicide Bridge to say yes to life, instead of, um, no:
Whether it’s talking out of his butt or showing up to the MTV Movie Awards as a hippie burnout, Jim Carrey is known as a kamikaze comedian, willing to go to any lengths for […]
Monrovia Shooting Gets Lots of Coverage
Wednesday, January 30th, 2008I’m not offering any conspiracy theories here, but I couldn’t help but notice that top five most viewed articles at the PSN website are about fatal violence in Monrovia. Is the city and PD of Monrovia being more forthcoming about its gang problem?
Around The Town With Sir Eric Maundry
Wednesday, January 30th, 2008“I’ve been held responsible for taxes I know nothing about.” - James Brown
If the Sierra Madre User Utility Tax increase passes, will a specific ballot question used in presenting this initiative to the voters make it susceptible to possible legal challenges? Because if the Notice Of Election currently up on the City of Sierra Madre […]
Total Non-Sequitur

I have absolutely no freakin’ clue what this could possibly mean.
Claremont Expansion
Monday, January 28th, 2008Anyone been to the new addition to the village in Claremont yet? What do yall think?
Thus far, I say good job all around. Some of the stores won’t make it, no doubt, but overall I think the future of the project/area looks bright.
Small Towns
Monday, January 28th, 2008I happened to be walking through the streets of Old Town Pasadena relatively late last night. It reminded one that the foothill cities, even the larger ones, are still relatively small places: it was a complete ghost town. The foothill cities sleep at night.
