10,000 Comments: Thanks!
By Centinel | April 17, 2008
CONTEST IS CLOSED.
The FC Blog has been in existence for just under a year (well, at this domain, anyway) and in that time, we’ve written 1,615 posts, which seems like a lot. But it pales in comparison to the number of comments that have followed those posts: almost 10,000. In the very near future, we’ll hit that astounding number and I’d like to do something to celebrate. To honor the myriad comments and express my thanks for the incredible contributions everyone has made to this blog, I’d like to announce a giveaway: one lucky reader will win a $100 iTunes Gift Card. That’s a song for every hundred comments and about as far as I can go without breaking the blog bank. And here’s the best part: entering is as simple as leaving a comment.
[Entry rules after the jump]
The giveaway rules are as follows:
- Leave a comment beneath this post saying anything you want, anything at all. Just be sure to include a valid email address (otherwise we won’t be able to tell you that you’ve won).
- Leave only one comment (multiple comments will be disqualified).
- You must leave a comment by Friday, April 25, 2008 @ 5:00pm. Any comments left after that will not be included in the contest.
One winner will be randomly selected after the contest has closed and the winner announced on Monday, April 28. Remember to leave a valid email address, because otherwise we won’t be able to email you to let you know you’re a winner.
That’s all. Leave a comment and good luck!
Update: As some readers have already figured out, you only need to leave a valid email address. You can still leave a pseudonym. Just so you know. Also, please let as many friends who may be interested in ye old FC Blog know about this contest. Thanks.
Update: The winner of the contest will be selected randomly from all the comments below. I’ll also announce the 10,000th comment tomorrow, but everyone has an equal shot so long as they leave a comment.

April 17th, 2008 at 2:21 pm

April 17th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
Alvarez-Glasman should win; without him, we wouldn’t be anywhere near 10,000 posts.
April 17th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
I think I should get it. After all, Publius and I really got this party started. Wait a sec…
[Centinel, you cannot win this prize — Ed.]

Wait a sec, 10,000 comments, 10,000 maniacs… hmmmm.
BTW this comment is not an official entry comment the other one is, unless this one gets selected then this is the official one, and the other one isn’t. Spoken like a true Sierra Madrean, huh?
April 17th, 2008 at 3:40 pm

April 17th, 2008 at 3:47 pm
Yes, Murray, authors/contributors can enter.
Kimber: you don’t need an iPod to enjoy the music, movies, and tv shows from the iTunes Store, just a computer (Apple or PC). So, you’ve got nothing to lose!
April 17th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
My blog recently topped 1,000 comments, so the FC Blog must be 10 times better! Congratulations on the milestone.

April 17th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
Can I use the gift certificate to download podcasts of The Foothill Cities Blog?
April 17th, 2008 at 5:15 pm

April 17th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Here is something that explains the relatively high vote won by Karma Bell in the recent Sierra Madre elections:

(That would be me…)
April 17th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
If I win, I promise to use my new powers for evil. Strictly evil.
April 17th, 2008 at 7:04 pm
I don’t own an IPOD. I don’t need a gift card. I would give it to my wife. My head is full.

April 17th, 2008 at 7:14 pm
Can’t I just get a $100 Gift Card @ Vromans?
April 17th, 2008 at 8:17 pm

April 18th, 2008 at 1:16 am
Can I sell the coupon and use it to fund a campaign for Pomona City Council? How about for Mayor (I hear the job’s going to be open soon).
April 18th, 2008 at 2:14 am
It’s 2:00 a.m. and the wail of the siren can be heard in District 1. I should be in bed, but I’m catching up on blog-reading in preparation for Saturday’s shindig.
Congratulations, and thanks for the good work.

Hooray!
Sounds like a great prize!

This is a comment. If this had been a real comment there would have been unresearched and poorly thought out ideas expressed in caps with excessive punctuation. Thank you.

Altadena representin’!
April 20th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
Sigh.
Some of you may not realize this, but Centinel has a strange obsession with lotteries, giveaways, contests and prizes…so play your cards right and he may end up doing this more often…
April 21st, 2008 at 10:17 pm
Is there anything Centinel does NOT have a strange obsession about?
April 22nd, 2008 at 4:09 pm
Strange obsessions are underrated.
April 22nd, 2008 at 4:41 pm
indeed.
April 23rd, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Mayflower Mariners… Second grader’s mom, he would love to download more music on his ipod and my credit card would love it as well!!! Number 66, wow one more six and it would have been an unlucky sign.
April 23rd, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Congrats on your 10,000th comment! That’s great! Thank you for the chance. I wouldn’t mind winning $100 worth of music.
April 23rd, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Just a note to let everyone know about the Habitat for Humanity campaign in Monrovia. Four homes will be built on Sherman Avenue which will provide affordable housing to families that wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to be homeowners. I’m proud to head up the Women’s Build Team. For more information please visit our website at www.monroviawomensbuild.org.
Oh, by the way, I’d love to win the contest!
