Dennis Mountjoy: Vote for Pops
By Centinel | May 13, 2008
Dennis Mountjoy’s campaign for the 29th Senate District, which includes chunks of the Foothill Cities, continues to impress me:
So far, Mountjoy appears to face an uphill battle. He’s been out of office since being termed out in 2006, and Margett has long endorsed Huff to succeed him. Furthermore, his $5,900 in cash on hand is a pittance compared with Huff’s $422,000 war chest, according to campaign finance statements.
But that hasn’t deterred Mountjoy, who hopes his conservative pedigree and name recognition will help him pull off an upset.
“Bob Huff has no name ID and Margett’s endorsement doesn’t mean much,” said Mountjoy, whose father served in the Assembly from 1978 to 1995 and authored Proposition 187, the controversial measure that would have denied state services to illegal aliens. “The Mountjoy name has been on the ballot for 30 years and is still good and strong. It stands for principle.”
What a strategy, Dennis: bank on Dad’s political success and the relative ignorance of voters who recognize your last name. That’s a real winner.
Seriously, though, having recently heard Bob Huff speak, I’m more impressed with him than Mountjoy the Younger and a little curious as to why Tom McClintock endorsed Dennis.

You mean the zealous, obsessed ”gay-hater” Dennis Mountjoy? (who, among other crazy acts, proposed legislation to entirely ban anything & everything that could possibly be even *construed* as ”homosexual” from the education system?)
No, thanks! I’ll take someone with less ”personal issues…”
