Pomona Brush Fire Grows To 30 Acres; Homes Threatened - News Story - KNBC | Los Angeles

By Centinel | May 16, 2008

Brush fire in Pomona!

Firefighters were sent to the 1600 block of Storrs Place shortly before 11 a.m., said Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Sam Padilla.Several blocks of homes were next to the creeping flames and while no evacuations were ordered, it was threatening homes because of the proximity, Los Angeles County fire Inspector Sam Padilla said.

Fire crews were sent to protect the houses and set up firelines around the flames that sent up layers of white smoke above acres of yellow brush that provided quick-burning fuel.

Apparently, no one cares. lol. If it’s not Sierra Madre, it’s rare for anyone to leave comments.

Anywho, I think many fires…especially the ones around this time a year are not natural. They’re either accidentally started, or most of the time, intentionally. Why is it that they always start coincidentally during high winds? lol. It’s like stupid people think “Oh, tripple digits, high wind, lighter or matches, perfect!” lol. There arn’t any official trails up in that area of Phillips Ranch but I know there are a few ways for people to get up there. One time I was riding the bus and as always I looked at the hills the whole way from Phillips and White all the way to Mission and Temple. Well this day I saw some kids running around up on a hill peak where there arn’t really any houses. I thought it was odd.

Note: just so no one interrogates me, this was years ago…
