We’re Back
by Centinel on December 1st, 2008The FC Blog is back.
Okay, we’re kinda back. We’re still reviving our archives and some things around the site may freak out on occasion, but heck, we’re alive. A big Thanksgiving cheer for that.
Contrary to what some clowns may believe (yes, that was me calling Todd a clown, and he deserves it for using phrases like “ambient insanity“…”unlikely excuse,” my keister), we actually did have a spectacular tech collapse here at the blog. Everything that could go wrong did. But when we woke up and saw the smoking wreckage that had once been the mighty FC Blog (a lord, nay a king amongst local blogs in the northern San Gabriel Valley) we decided to do something positive about it, after we had spent several hours gnashing our teeth and rending our garments. We redesigned the blog and committed ourselves to making it better than ever.
To that end, we invested in some backend improvements that should make the blog experience much better. Also, we got a tech genius to design some custom software to make it easier for us to blog. Long story short: if you care about any city between Pasadena and Pomona, this blog is going to blow your mind. Um, well, as soon as we get back up to speed. So, maybe it will only, er, rock your world, or slightly surprise you, but eventually it will blow your mind. Consider yourself warned.
We’ll have a lot more about the blog in the days to come, but this week is our soft launch. We’re sneaking back on the web without a whole lot of promotion while we kick the kinks out of this brand spankin’ new design. I’ll be showing off some new features, and testing the functionality of the site, while some of our writers get acquainted with the updated Wordpress and sharpen their knives. Please email me with any complaints (centinel@thefcblog.com) and let’s get the blog back to snuff.
One last thing to note: we were totally cryptic about who was reading us before (in terms of stats), but that attitude was one of the things that died with the old blog. From here on out, we’ll tell you how many folks are reading us so you can see just how important (or, um, unimportant) the FC Blog is. I can say that at our peak, before the tech debacle, we had managed to snag multiple months with more than 10,000 uniques, and we were still growing at a rapid rate. Right now, the readership is starting at one (me), so we have nowhere to go, but up.

Welcome back. We all missed you during the campaign cycle, but I'm sure that things will once again heat up.
December 1st, 2008 at 2:49 am
woohoo am so jazzed. Can't wait for more posts to happen. Of course, at some point in time I need to let all of LA know that the FCBlog is back.

Welcome back, dudes!
So, um, where were we?
December 1st, 2008 at 3:23 am
I'm really glad to have you back. I'm a big fan of this blog and in particular the emphasis on being fair to all sides of issues. Good luck.

Sweet readership grew by 500% since this post. Excellent.

Let's test threaded comments….oooh, looking sick, eh Keith?

You're right, seeing how you were at the bottom of the heap for blogs, you do have nowhere to go but up. Doubt you'll do it though. With someone like yourself in charge, you're already doomed to failure.

Welcome back!

Voila!
December 1st, 2008 at 9:23 am
our first troll arrived…see how popular the FCBlog is…even the trolls were hitting the link waiting for something to come back up. Like lunch. Kidding.

I always found your blog, pardon the cliche, fair and balanced. I can only suspect 'Sorry You're Back' prefers one position…theirs. Interesting how quickly 'Sorry You're Back' discovered you were back.

Welcome back Kotter!

I love you, too.

Welcome back! You were missed. But you're back just in time for the fun in Pomona to start with the new mayor. What were those voters thinking?
And the new look is sweet — slick, fast, and easily readable on my smart phone (thanks for putting the links on the right!)

um…off topic?
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:14 am
Hey, ask Aaron Proctor. I have no doubt he'll let you know.
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:15 am
If you click on Aaron Proctor off to the right it does take you to the Proctor for Mayor site. But it's nothing like you'd think it would be. Kind of weird, but not in the usual way.

So glad to see you're back in the mix (and love the new banner, too!). Your blogroll of local blogs seems to be missing something, tho' let me think …
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:20 am
How can you be off topic on a test thread? I don't mean to brag or anything, but wouldn't that take some kind of serious skill?
Centinal, I'll ask. Hey Aaron! What's up?
December 2nd, 2008 at 1:26 am
By the way, I did just order some airline tickets on the aaronproctorformayor.com site.
Can't say I've ever heard of Air Duarte before, tho.

Thinking? Do you think that they were thinking in that election?
Yes, things should certainly get interesting.

Welcome back! Just so happened to check my feed reader for the first time in forever and was pleasantly surprised to see that there were new posts. For real, man. Kewl.

Welcome back! Now, pretty soon the rest of the world will know "The Foothill Cities Blog" is FINALLY up and running.
December 2nd, 2008 at 3:50 am
So glad you're back. The internet has been kind of empty without you crazy guys.
Does anyone here know the chord progression for Neil Young's "Sugar Mountain?" I just love this song, it so expresses the loss of ones innocence in a world that is too often cold and uncaring. I have been feeling a little lost myself lately, and I think being able to play it on my guitar would cheer me up. That and I'd like to sing it to my dog.

I am very glad that you are back. You were missed. Best of luck with all the tech stuff.

Little longer than expected, but welcome back!

Welcome back. We missed you at SGVN.

Yeah, no kidding.

Glad to see you back in operation!
December 2nd, 2008 at 7:04 am
Welcome back, you were missed.
December 2nd, 2008 at 7:23 am
John, we'll definitely be in touch. That election needs an expert dissection.
December 2nd, 2008 at 7:24 am
Heh. Heh. Heh. One of many things that need to be touched up. I'm on it.
December 2nd, 2008 at 7:25 am
Thanks Frank.
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Wow, you're back. I guess that means you are not away any more.
December 2nd, 2008 at 12:58 pm
Why is Aaron Proctor all the way off in Philadelphia? And why did his lawyer insist that he take his Pasadena blog down? Or at least that is what it said until it disappeared.
December 3rd, 2008 at 4:44 am
Welcome back to the Blogosphere.
